This standard describes the abridged Canada Standard sizing system which may be used as a guide in choosing the sizes of women's wearing apparel. The standard contains a selection from the complete system of sizes which is of greatest commercial interest.
The sizes are identified by code numbers that correspond as closely as possible to current trade practice. Size identifications based on size indicator body dimensions are also given.
The sizes are grouped into ranges to which present trade names have been assigned.
This standard also contains definitions of body dimensions and gives the body measurements required to define each size.
A description of the derivation of the basic Canada Standard sizing system is in standard CAN/CGSB-49.201-M. The basic system has been modified so as to substitute size indicator body dimensions for the original control dimensions. This modification is presented in standard CAN/CGSB-49.202-M.
